Trainers

Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Salisbury University. She works with individuals who have experienced sexual trauma and LGBTQ+ communities.

Becky Anthony

Student, teacher, trainer, researcher, analyst, writer, advocate and leader in the public health and social change sector. Her experience includes research, training, facilitating and presenting. She has vast experience in mental health, social justice, substance abuse and misuse, sexual health, health disparities and homelessness.

Graduate student at Salisbury University in pursuit of their MA in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution 

Diamond Brown

Regional Program Director of Alternative Dispute Resolution Services on the Eastern Shore for the District Court of Maryland.  Safe Space training has informed his perspective on all programs on the Eastern Shore to ensure that services are rendered with the utmost sensitivity for all litigants in the District Court.

Andrew Fontanella

Associate Professor of U.S. Women’s History and Program Director for Gender and Sexuality Studies at Salisbury University. She holds a B.A. history from Yale University and a joint-Ph.D. in History and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the intersection of sexuality and religion in early nineteenth-century America. 

Kara French

Conflict resolution practitioner who values the interconnectedness of all people and honors that as a mediator, circle-keeper, restorative practitioner, and dialogue facilitator. She teaches courses in conflict resolution and restorative justice, and serves on the board of the Circle of Restorative Initiatives (CRI) for Maryland. Her favorite phrase is, “Circle up!” and you can be sure she carries a talking piece with her everywhere she goes

Heather V. Fogg

Retired Fairfax County, Virginia educator. She received her undergraduate degree from William and Mary and her Master’s in the Advanced Studies of Teaching and Learning from George Mason.

Debbie Hile

Curriculum developer for both entry level and annual in-service training.  Letitia has a special interest in providing training about trauma informed care and working with sexually diverse youth.

Paula T. Morris

Retired fundraiser.  She has enjoyed a lifelong affinity for working with nonprofit organizations, beginning in the 1970s. She retired from her position as Development Director for Wor-Wic Community College in 2017. She has an M.A. in Political Science and has taught a course on “Women in Politics” at Salisbury University since 1991.

Janice murphy

Assistant Dean for Curricular Enrichment at Washington College in Chestertown, MD. As a queer ciswoman of color, Tya often shares personal stories to help her audiences understand the nuances of the community.  She serves as the Treasurer for the GLSEN Maryland board of directors as her true passion is working with queer and trans youth.

Tya M. Pope

 

Chair of Research & Instructional Services at SU Libraries. She acts as the liaison for the multiple academic departments. She also serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for the Libraries. Angeline has a background in drama from Vassar College and earned her Master in Library Science from the University of Illinois.

Professor in the Psychology Department at Salisbury University. As an applied social/community psychologist, she has conducted research, given trainings, and engaged in advocacy work with and for LGBTQ+ people.

Senior social work student at Salisbury University who is acting as the intern for the Safe Spaces initiative.  She works as a resident assistant with freshmen students and as a volunteer at the LGBTQ resource center at the university as well, and plans to go into a clinical focus as she pursues a masters degree in social work.
